Dream is the bedrock of every worthwhile achievement ever achieved by man. Whether it is going to the moon, constructing the tallest building in the world, marrying a good wife or husband, studying to bag any certificate or degree of your choice, acquiring that automobile of your choice, the invention of computer or the invention of the aircraft, every one of such achievements was the product of a dream.
This in essence means that since the beginning of time people have dreamed dreams and they have been living their dreams. In life, one thing is very certain. And what is certain is that every human being at one time or the other dreamed dreams; whether it is a big or small dream.
Also, as children, each and every one of us dreamed dreams. Some dreamed of becoming doctors, lawyers, nurses, engineers, pilots, sailors, scientists and etc. There is the other set of people who dreamed of becoming musicians, actors and actresses, football stars, Authors and etc.
Again, there is yet another set of people who dreamed of changing the world in one way or the other.
By nature, children are uninhibited dreamers. They can see anything done by the adults whom they see in their everyday life and believe they can be like such adults. They can see what others are doing and begin to nurture the ambition of doing the same.

Remember the usual “when I grow up I will be………” When I grow up I will be this or that. As children, we said all that with a burning desire. Children don’t foresee hindrances or obstacles. When they dream, they see themselves becoming that particular thing in the future. They always have this strong conviction that they can become such persons in the future.
However, sometimes as we grow up and realities began to change, our interest in our childhood dreams began to wane. As responsibilities starts to show up, we start slowing down our eagerness to be that which we wanted to be when we were still kids.
Sometimes it could be that in the process of actualizing such dreams, we hit a wall or obstacle and for the majority of the people the next thing is to give up their dreams.
Again, most of us give up our dreams at the face of worries of how to make a living. And this is mainly because many of us think that we cannot make a living with our dreams. And as a result of this many lofty dreams have been allowed to die undeveloped.
The question is; are we supposed to stop dreaming or give up on our dreams? The answer is no. I like what Jim Key said during a speech titled “Never Too Late” which he presented during a Toastmaster International event. He said “As long as it was right for us to dream dreams as kids, it is also right for us to dream dreams as adults”.
It is not only right that as adults we can still dream dreams but that as adults we can still dream dreams and go ahead to actualize them 100%. We can actualize those dreams because we are naturally built with the abilities to work on and accomplish as many feats as we have chosen to work on. And as Jim Key puts it, “It is never too late to pursue your dreams. And I believe strongly that it is never too late for anyone. This is because most dreams we pursue does not require much physical power rather they require mental powers which anyone can boast of even at the age of 60.
The truth is that each and every one of us is created with inexhaustible mental abilities given to us by God or whatever you believe in to enable us contribute our own quota to the development and maintenance of the world entrusted unto our collective cares.
What I have found out is that even as adults many people still view their dreams as fantasies. And ones they see their dreams in that light, they start losing interest in it. Such folks lose interest in such dreams due to the fact that they started to see themselves as lacking the ability and other wherewithal required to bring the dreams to fruition. Without doubts, it is true that given the fact that we lack the knowledge or the expertise needed to bring such dreams to life, it is easy to give up such dreams as a childhood wishful thinking. But like we have seen already, the abilities to acquire the knowledge requisite for actualize such dreams are within each and everyone of us waiting for us to recognize it and start utilising them. The truth is that it is possible for you to live your dreams in spite of the negative situations or lack of confidence you may harbour in yourself.
All you need to do is to believe in yourself. Believe in the abilities that you have in you. When you develop belief in yourself it will spur you to pursue your dreams with the poise to rise up each time you hit the wall or at face of any self limiting thoughts.
